Wedding Show at DoubleTree
I’m amazed it was over a week ago that we were at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel, Swindon, for the Whitewed Wedding Show - time flies! Since then we have been super busy with our current clients and providing bespoke proposals for recent enquiries, but I wanted to chat about some of the lovely suppliers we met at the show and our overall experience.
From when we arrived I knew it was going to be a good one, there was a buzz in the air and though everybody was friendly and relaxed, you could tell that we were all excited for the day ahead. It’s like a busy summer of weddings had refreshed everyone! More likely though is that coming into Wedding Show season was a welcome change of pace and talking to potential clients would be a nice change to the hustle and bustle of the past few months.
I always think that’s the downside of the summer period, I rarely get an opportunity to talk face-to-face with potential clients. Sure there’s online enquiries and emails, but nothing quite beats talking in person with engaged couples who want to share their wedding ideas - their enthusiasm is definitely infectious!
I managed to have a little mooch around before any of the couples started coming in and it was great to see so many gorgeous stands. I’m a sucker for a pretty stand and always get stand envy at wedding shows!
Personally, I fell in love with Niche Events’ stand - a stunning flower wall is always a winner! I also loved Kimmi’s Cakes (yum!), who had made a stunning cake for the inspiration zone as well as a range of yummy treats for everyone to try. There was live music and a DJ to provide the atmosphere for the show (Skywalkers Promotions, Interlight and The Wedding Pianists) and even a selfie showreel style screen provided by Eventimate. The DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel and Fancy Decor Hire were serving more sweet treats - cookies, doughnuts and a sweet cart - and the smell of our flowers certainly made our corner of the room a good place to be, where we were next to the lovely Gary from Not Just Travel who was offering weddings and honeymoons in the sun - what’s not to love about that.
At 11am the couples started coming in and next thing I knew it was early afternoon! I had so much fun talking with the lovely engaged couples who came over to our stand and I was glad to hear about such a variety of wedding ideas - from rustic to Disney, pastel colours to burgundy and barn weddings to manor houses. A number of Brides tried out our bouquets for size and our roses especially received a lot of love (we love roses too)! Thank you to all the lovely couples (and their entourage) who came and spoke to us because you absolutely made our day, and we hope to hear more from you in the future.
The end of the day came round far too quickly but we were glad to have met some lovely people and to be included in the Whitewed show. Both our bouquets and one of our centrepieces were dropped off at a local nursing home on our way back, followed by a well earned drink.
A huge thank you to the team at Whitewed for being so welcoming and helpful, both on the day and prior, and we can’t wait for the next one!
